Welcome, students! Are you ready for the new school year? Here are five reasons to love being back in Morgantown.
Morgantown magazine has been all about Tutto Gelato Cafe this summer. We’ve dished gelato up for every staff birthday party we could. Some of us love the pistachio gelato, but there are fans of the fruity flavors here, too. The mango is frozen heaven. Oh, but the salted caramel—so many more flavors to remind you that Morgantown is the place to be. Treat yo self!
Have you been back to Phoenix Bakery yet? Stop by in the mornings, Wednesday through Sunday, for coffee and the freshest pastries in town—or at lunchtime to grab a loaf of bread still warm from the oven. Or order one of their brick-oven pizzas for dinner. You’ll remember what you’ve been missing all summer.
The Morgantown Farmers Market is better than ever this year, with everything from local fruits and vegetables, honey, eggs, and meats to fresh pastries, handicrafts, and potted plants every Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The company of your friends and neighbors mingling in the shade of the pavilion to the sounds of live music will make your Mountaineer heart swell.
Nothing says Morgantown like the views at Coopers Rock State Forest. Take in the Cheat River Gorge from the main overlook, or hike down to Rock City and get lost among the boulders. It’s an experience you can’t have anywhere else.
When you’ve finished remembering some of the other reasons you love living in Morgantown, refresh yourself with a locally brewed beer at Chestnut Brew Works, Morgantown Brewing Company, or Mountain State Brewing Company—or on tap at watering holes all across town.
