With the recent increase in state historic tax credits, Mills Group hopes to work on more adaptive-reuse projects that preserve the heritage of downtowns. “We can’t afford to recreate the past. By restoring or adapting historic structures, we are preserving the contextual features of our downtowns,” Mills says. “At Mills Group, we walk a client through the process, help them conceptualize the potential, and make sure they meet the National Park Service standards to ensure the receipt of the tax credits.
